Let's bring AWARENESS to something very dear and near to my {HEART}...

Today starts National Brain Cancer Awareness Month! Did you know 1 person is diagnosed every 3 minutes in the United States? ...startling statistics isn't it? I will never forget the moment when my dad told me he had a Brain Tumor...that was nearly 13 and a half months ago. My Dad was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme Stage 4 Brain Cancer, one of the most aggressive forms of Brain Cancer...when he first started this journey we knew NOTHING about this disease...I can't say that any longer...I think I am quite educated these days...

In the last year, I have counted at least 10 people not including my dad, who have already passed away or are still fighting for their lives with GBM...and our community still DOES NOT have resources specifically for Brain Tumor patients or their families...what saddens me the most is there are never any events held specifically for Brain Cancer Awareness locally either...even with all these families here that have been devastated by this horrible disease. We have travelled outside to other communities to support Brain Cancer Awareness...and will continue to do so...until our community here realizes there is a need here...to build awareness for Brain Cancer.

I will wear gray EVERYDAY this month in my support of Brain Cancer Awareness Month! ...along with MANY other things...what will you be doing? I would love to hear...send me a message...

Here's a little project I made...actually a few months ago...and it's been sitting on my shelf waiting for today...to be seen! Let's find a CURE!

Renee,
I have been following your blog for quite sometime and this story with your dad.
A good friend of mine passed away 3 months ago today from this disease.
He lived for 8 years after he was diagnosed, unfortunately we only became really close the last year. i have become educated in this as well.
One of the big things I took from this is that he lived his life fully, beautifully and just loved everyone around them good or bad.
I hope a cure is found and I hope you and your dad share many wonderful moments together, nothing is more important.
I hope for the best for you an your family.
lots of hugs,
michele

In support of you and your family, I will be wearing gray to school tomorrow - come to think of it, I wore gray to church today. You have been an inspiration to me and I pray God continues to bless you and your family with special times.

My husband (of 27 yrs) was diagnosed November 19,2010 with Glioblastoma Stage 4 Brain Cancer as your father. He had surgery on December 1, 2010; and has completed his radiation; but is still undergoing Avastin and Temador chemo treatments. He has had multiple MRI's done and so far so good. I too wore gray every day during the month of May. I wear two bracelets daily; have a gray ribbon (tack pin) that I wear daily only clothes and have a magnet on my car. We need to make people more aware of this, because as you said a lot of people have never heard of it before. I wish you and your family the best. We take one day at a time and enjoy every moment that we have together
